A three-fold increase in the number of Islamophobia in England
The results of the latest research conducted in England show that the number of crimes related to Islamophobia in this country has tripled since the beginning of the Gaza war. |
The British charity “TelMama” announced that from October 7 (the beginning of the Gaza war) to February 7, it recorded 2 thousand and 10 incidents related to anti-Islamism, which compared to the period Similar to last year, it shows an increase of 600 cases.
This is the highest rate in a four-month period and since this British charity started collecting Islamophobia statistics in 2011.
According to the report of “Telmama”, which defined one of its missions as measuring crimes related to Islamophobia, half of the crimes committed in the last four months were related to insulting statements in cyberspace. 576 cases of physical attacks, insulting behavior, threats and vandalism were recorded.
Out of every 3 registered crimes, 2 are related to Muslim women. Some have been called “terrorists” and some have been physically abused.
Iman Atta, the head of “Talmama” said about this; Since the Gaza war began, Muslims have been persecuted more than ever before. According to him, “assassin”, “murderer” and “terrorist” are among the insulting titles attributed to Muslims these days.
Not long ago, the building of the British Islamic Human Rights Commission, an organization that has played an active role in supporting Palestinian ideals and organizing anti-Zionist demonstrations in this country for the past 2 decades, was attacked by pro-Israeli groups.

Masoud Shajareh, the head of this Islamic institution, said that the London government has allocated three million pounds to secure centers and buildings belonging to Jews, but has not provided any funds for Islamic organizations.
He added: “Muslims living in England have become second-class citizens in all aspects of life.” Shajreh considered this situation to be the result of an atmosphere of hatred that politicians and the media are fueling and by passing laws that target Muslims, they “legitimize Islamophobia and institutionalize its culture in the country.”
