A “three-stage” cease-fire proposal in Gaza by the mediation parties

The mediation parties in the ongoing talks in Cairo have proposed a three-stage ceasefire with the aim of ending the war in the Gaza Strip.

Qatar’s Al Jazeera network reported today (Monday) quoting its sources that the mediation parties in the ongoing talks in Cairo have proposed a three-stage ceasefire with the aim of ending the war in the Gaza Strip.

This proposal includes the return of civilian and unarmed refugees to the north of the Gaza Strip, without mentioning their number.

According to the mentioned proposal, the Zionist regime will agree to the reopening of Al-Rashid Street and the Salah al-Din North-South highway in the Gaza Strip, and the forces of this regime will be stationed 500 meters away from this highway.

According to another clause of this agreement, 500 humanitarian aid trucks will enter the Gaza Strip daily, including the northern Gaza area.

The draft agreement will also include the release of 900 Palestinian prisoners from the prisons of the Zionist regime in the first phase of the agreement, among which 100 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment will also be released.

According to this report, in the second stage, all Zionist prisoners will be released and negotiations to re-establish a permanent ceasefire will end.

Palestinian resistance groups started the “Al-Aqsa Storm” operation from Gaza (southern Palestine) against the positions of the Israeli regime on October 15, 2023, which finally ended on December 3, 1402 (November 24, 2023) after 45 days of fighting. A four-day temporary cease-fire was established between Hamas and the Zionist regime.

This pause in the war continued for seven days and finally on the morning of Friday 10 Azar (December 1, 2023), the temporary ceasefire ended and the Israeli regime resumed attacks against Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s opposition to the cease-fire in the Gaza Strip has denied the possibility of reaching an agreement for the release of Zionist prisoners in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners from the prisons of this regime, and a number of Zionist prisoners have died due to the brutal bombing of various areas of the Strip. Gazans have been killed by the Tel Aviv regime. This has caused widespread protests by the families of these prisoners in the occupied territories. While they are demanding an agreement with Hamas for the release of Zionist prisoners, Benjamin Netanyahu, who is confident of being tried for corruption after the end of the war, blocks any agreement in this regard.
