According to the report of the international group Tasnim news agency quoting “Focus” publication, on the eve of the fourth round of negotiations in the collective bargaining dispute at Postbank, the German trade union expands the warning strikes in this sector. This union, in addition to the employees of the service units (back office) and nationwide call centers, also asked the branch employees to go on strike for this Thursday.

Yan Dushak Union negotiator Verdi in Berlin said: “This sends a clear signal once again that all employees are behind the demands for significant improvements in pay and increased protection against layoffs. Strikes in back offices and call centers have started on Tuesday.

Verdi’s union is set to extend warning strikes ahead of the April 16 round of talks in Frankfurt. The negotiations have shown a reaction. The announcement a day and a half before the strike was a warning to ensure customers could prepare for it in time. Duske said there could be temporary disruptions.

Verdi wants to get 15.5 percent more for about 12,000 Deutsche Bank Group employees through Postbank’s collective agreement. But the minimum monthly salary increase of 600 euros is also taken into consideration. The union is also calling for an extension of layoff protection until the end of 2028. Deutsche Bank wants to close up to 250 of Postbank’s 550 branches by mid-2026 and also cut its staff.

It was only on Monday that the Verdi and the German Bank Employees’ Association (DBV) stepped up pressure in the collective bargaining dispute, calling on employees in back offices and call centers across the country to stop work from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Dushek criticized that despite weeks of negotiations, employers in this sector are still not ready to give any significant benefits to Post Bank employees.

The fourth round of negotiations between representatives of workers and employees of Post Bank, which is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank, is scheduled to be held with its officials in the coming days.

Germany’s largest lender attempts to reduce costs and manage customer service deficiencies at Post Bank; Deficiencies that have been severe enough that the supervisor of this bank intends to monitor the reform process.
