According to this media, there are women and children among those killed in the incident.

So far, no person or group has claimed responsibility for this attack.

Local authorities say that rebel groups may be behind the organization of this bloody crime.

In recent months, members of the March 23 Movement (M23) have taken control of many villages and towns in the eastern Republic of Congo.

Thousands of civilians have fled their homes in the region due to increased attacks since November 2021. These attacks led to a crisis in relations between the Republic of Congo and Rwanda.

The Democratic Republic of Congo accuses Rwanda of trying to occupy territories rich in minerals such as gold and cobalt for its own interests, as well as supporting the M23 rebels. Rwandan authorities deny these accusations.

It should be said that the United Nations officials recently reported that following the explosion of 2 bombs that targeted 2 refugee camps in the east of the Republic of Congo, several people were killed. The incident happened in Lockvert and Mugunga camps near the city of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province.
