According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and Almaalomah,Hussein al-Amiri,a member of Iraq’s Security and Defense Committee,expressed surprise at the Iraqi government’s silence regarding Turkey’s occupation activities in northern Iraq.
He stated: “This committee opposes any security or economic agreement that has not been reviewed by parliament. We are unaware of any signed agreement between Baghdad and Ankara.”
Madiha Al-Mousawi, another Iraqi parliament member, emphasized that Turkey is violating Iraq’s sovereignty under the pretext of combating terrorism, leading to ankara’s increasing influence in northern Iraq.
She added: “Turkey continues its aggression against Iraqi territory through repeated military operations in the north. Ankara’s objectives with these actions are to expand its regional influence and gain control over strategic resources.”
