India Closes Border Crossing After Peshawar Attack; Pakistan Holds National Security Meeting
India’s government, in a strong response to the terrorist attack against a group of tourists in the Kashmir region, has suspended a 65-year-old treaty and closed the main border crossing between India and Pakistan.
According to the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, two days after armed assailants attacked a group of tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir, India announced measures against its neighboring country, Pakistan.
among these severe actions are the closure of the primary transit border crossing between the two countries, suspension of a historic water treaty, expulsion of diplomats, and an order for certain Pakistani passport holders to leave India within 48 hours.
Emergency Meeting Held by Pakistan’s National Security council

The attack on Tuesday in Pahalgam ranks among the deadliest incidents in the recent history of this turbulent region, claiming the lives of 26 tourists. The tragedy risks further straining already frosty bilateral relations between the two nations.
Both India and Pakistan claim full sovereignty over Kashmir, yet each administers only part of it. in a sharp response to the attack, India indirectly held Pakistan responsible. New Delhi has long accused Islamabad’s governments of supporting armed groups in the region—a charge Pakistan vehemently denies.
Suspension of 65-Year-Old Water Treaty
India also announced it would suspend its water-sharing treaty wiht Pakistan, established in 1960. Under this agreement, control over eastern rivers was allocated to India while western rivers…The obligation has been attributed to Pakistan.
Indian security agencies claim that a group called the ”kashmir Resistance” is behind this attack. The Pakistani government has announced that its National Security Council will hold a meeting today.
Expulsion of Military Advisors and Pakistani Diplomats from New Delhi
As part of measures taken by India against Pakistan, Pakistani military advisors stationed at the embassy in New Delhi must leave India immediatly. Additionally, a second wave of diplomat expulsions is scheduled for next week.
The attack in Pahalgam has heightened the risk of reigniting long-standing tensions between these two nuclear-armed nations.

khwaja Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, responded to India’s accusations regarding the Pahalgam attack by stating that “Islamabad will give a proportionate response to India’s actions.”
