US Lawmakers Demand Public Explanation from White House on Iran Strikes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, several prominent Democratic senators and the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday, local time, following a classified briefing on the United States’ role in strikes against Iran, urged the Donald Trump administration to present its rationale for continuing the attacks publicly, rather than solely in closed-door sessions with Congress.
Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia stated, “We want to bring this to the public arena and pose the questions to the American people; that is precisely what we are calling for.” He added, “I have a lot of information that I cannot share with you, and I cannot even share with my constituents, while they want to know if their sons or spouses are going to be deployed on a mission.”
Senator Jacky Rosen of Nevada also told reporters, “This situation is concerning and distressing, and I am not sure what the ultimate objective is or what their exact plans are.” Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts also remarked, “The Trump administration repeatedly says there is no money for healthcare, no budget for childcare, and no time to address the fact that families are facing increased costs.” Senator Warren further elaborated, “Billions of dollars are spent daily on deployments to the Middle East and bombing Iran for military objectives, objectives that no one can clearly explain and it is unclear how they can be achieved through airstrikes. Therefore, no more money should be allocated.”
The joint military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran commenced on the morning of February 18, 2026 (February 28, 2026), amidst ongoing indirect negotiations between Iran and the U.S. mediated by some regional countries, and it continues to this day. Analysts believe this military action has once again demonstrated that the U.S. lacks practical adherence to the principles of dialogue, confidence-building, and peaceful resolution of disputes, and continues to utilize the military option as a tool for political pressure.
In response to the commencement of the joint military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime, the Islamic Republic of Iran delivered a decisive, targeted, and proportionate response. Within the framework of this legitimate response, Iran precisely targeted the military and security positions of the Zionist regime in various cities of occupied Palestine, as well as the bases and troop concentration centers of American forces in the region, through missile, drone, and aerial attacks. These attacks are ongoing.
