Turkey Condemns Israeli Strikes in Southern Syria, Calls for International Action

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement Friday evening, characterizing the Israeli attack on military infrastructure in southern Syria as a dangerous act of escalation and condemning it severely. The statement, citing Anatolia News Agency, also referenced data published by Mehr News Agency.
Ankara called on the international community to assume its responsibility to halt Israeli attacks, which it described as a blatant violation of international law and Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized the importance of implementing the 1974 disengagement agreement.
This agreement, approved in 1974, stipulates a ceasefire and separation of forces in the Golan Heights under the supervision of United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF). The ministry further stated that Turkey, based on the principle of Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity, will continue its solidarity with the Syrian government and people in their pursuit of lasting stability and security.
The Israeli army announced on Friday that it had targeted a position belonging to the Golan regime in southern Syria in response to the targeting of Druze individuals in As-Suwayda. In this context, Israeli Minister of War, Yisrael Katz, stated that he and the Prime Minister ordered the attack on Syrian army infrastructure in the As-Suwayda region. He claimed that this action was taken in response to the targeting of Druze residents in southern Syria.
