France Asserts Independent Security Strategy, Unreliant on U.S.

France’s security strategy has been built on national sovereignty and its own military capabilities for over sixty years, with Paris asserting its defense is independent of the United States, according to the Minister for the Armed Forces.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, France‘s security strategy has been firmly rooted in national sovereignty, nuclear deterrence, and conventional military capabilities for more than six decades. Catherine Colonna, the Minister for the Armed Forces, stated on Saturday that Paris does not depend on the United States for its own defense.

Colonna made these remarks at the Shangri-La Dialogue security forum in Singapore. She emphasized that France’s approach remains anchored on two key pillars: its nuclear arsenal and its armed forces. The minister highlighted that France has doubled its defense budget over the past decade, underscoring the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in security matters.
