France Calls for UN Security Council Session Amid Escalating Israeli Strikes on Lebanon

France has formally requested an emergency session of the UN Security Council to address the ongoing Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon, which have intensified in recent days. The move comes as Hezbollah reports launching retaliatory rockets into northern Israel.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, France has called for an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council concerning Lebanon. This request follows persistent Israeli attacks on various areas in southern Lebanon. Israeli fighter jets have reportedly bombed the city of Tyre, as well as the villages of Burj Qallawiya, Kafr Tibnit, Nabatieh el-Fawqa, Ghunduriya, Shukin, and the heights of Ali al-Taher in southern Lebanon. The towns of Sarfa and Ansar in southern Lebanon were also targeted. Additionally, an Israeli drone attacked a motorcycle in the village of Al-Qusaybah in the Nabatieh district. Earlier, the village of Deir az-Zahrani had been subjected to Israeli attacks. Another Israeli drone targeted the village of Ash-Sharqiyah, resulting in damage to an ambulance vehicle.

In response to these relentless attacks, Israeli media reported the activation of air raid sirens in Metulla, Kiryat Shmona, and Tel Hai in Upper Galilee, following rocket fire from Lebanon. Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that four rockets were launched from southern Lebanon towards the Upper Galilee region, with three Israeli interceptor missiles detonating in the area’s sky. Concurrently, the Israeli army radio stated that Hezbollah launched approximately 10 rockets towards Kiryat Shmona, Metulla, and several other settlements in Upper Galilee. This Hebrew media outlet added that warning sirens have been continuously sounding in Upper Galilee over the past hour. Sirens were also activated in Zar’it in Western Galilee due to a suspected drone infiltration from Lebanon. The Israeli media outlet Yedioth Ahronoth claimed that rockets fired towards Nahariya and Acre were intercepted, with some landing in open areas. Israeli publication Israel Hayom also reported the crash of a drone in an open area in Acre, located in northern occupied Palestine.
