Italy Dispatches Troops and Fighter Jets to Romania for Drone Training

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Italy will deploy around 100 military personnel and several fighter jets to Romania as part of a training initiative for Romanian forces. This operation is scheduled to begin on June 15 and will continue for one month.
The exercise is distinct from NATO’s standard air policing missions and will take place at the Mihail Kogălniceanu air base in Constanța. Reports indicate that Romanian forces will receive training focused on downing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The mission will involve fighter jets and specialized drone interception units.
This deployment follows an incident that occurred on May 29 in the Romanian city of Galați. Earlier, British Secretary of Defense John Healey had commented on the drone incident in Romania, stating that the Royal Air Force had stationed its fighter jets in Romania to assist NATO in aerial patrol missions.
Local media reports suggest that a Russian-made drone, reportedly targeting objectives in Ukrainian territory near the border, entered Romanian airspace and struck a 10-story residential building in Galați, located in eastern Romania.
