Israel Warns Beirut Residents to Evacuate Southern Suburb Amid Escalating Tensions

The Israeli military has issued a stark evacuation warning to residents of Beirut’s southern suburb, signaling a potential escalation of conflict and preemptive strikes against Hezbollah targets.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli military has issued an evacuation warning to residents of Beirut’s southern suburb, citing the potential for Israeli strikes. The warning comes as tensions rise, with the Israeli army threatening action if Hezbollah continues its missile attacks on Israeli cities and towns.

The Israeli military stated that it would respond by targeting locations in Beirut’s southern suburb if Hezbollah persists with missile barrages against Israeli municipalities. This declaration underscores a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation.

The Israeli newspaper Maariv, quoting a military source, reported that the Israeli army is actively compiling an extensive list of targets in preparation for potential assaults on the southern suburb of Beirut. These targets are categorized into three main areas: ‘Human Assets,’ which include a substantial roster of Hezbollah commanders and officials, notably Sheikh Naeem Qassem, the movement’s Secretary-General. ‘Command and Control Infrastructure’ encompasses Hezbollah’s headquarters and its communication and control centers, with the Israeli army aiming to disrupt Hezbollah’s leadership and operational coordination by striking these hubs. Israeli officials believe Hezbollah commanders stationed in the southern suburbs and Beqaa Valley relay orders to forward positions in Tyre and Sidon for actions against Israel. The third category, ‘Weapon Depots and Technology Centers,’ includes arms and missile storage facilities, residential apartments allegedly used to conceal rockets, drone storage sites, and laboratories and technological systems employed by Hezbollah in its military operations.

The aforementioned source indicated that the full scope of the authorization granted by political authorities to the military remains unclear. It is yet to be determined whether Israel’s response will be limited and symbolic or a large-scale military operation intended to inflict substantial damage on Hezbollah’s power centers within Lebanon.
