Hezbollah Conditionall Agrees to U.S.-Brokered Ceasefire, Lebanese Embassy Reports

The Lebanese Embassy in Washington has announced that Hezbollah has conditionally agreed to a U.S. proposal for a mutual cessation of hostilities, according to reports citing Al Jazeera. The proposed mechanism would halt Israeli attacks on southern Beirut in exchange for Hezbollah refraining from attacks on Israel.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Lebanese Embassy in Washington announced that Lebanese officials have received confirmation of Hezbollah‘s agreement to the American proposal for a mutual cessation of attacks. Based on the data published by Mehr News Agency, quoting Al Jazeera network, the proposed mechanism stipulates that the Israeli regime’s attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut will be halted, and in return, Hezbollah will refrain from conducting attacks against Israel.

The Lebanese Embassy in Washington also stated that U.S. President Donald Trump informed the Lebanese Ambassador in Washington that Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to this proposed mechanism. The statement added that Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has also communicated the results of the consultations and negotiations to Hezbollah.

The Lebanese Embassy in Washington concluded by announcing that negotiation sessions are scheduled to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday to review this progress and build upon it.
