Kremlin: US Not Ready for Moscow-Washington Relations Development

The Kremlin stated that the United States is not currently prepared to advance Moscow-Washington relations, linking economic ties to the resolution of the Ukraine crisis. Russia, however, deems this approach incorrect, emphasizing that both sides are needed for improved bilateral ties.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced on Saturday that Moscow welcomes Washington’s readiness and willingness to contribute to resolving the Ukraine crisis. He added that the United States associates the development of economic relations with Russia to the settlement of the Ukraine crisis, an approach Moscow considers mistaken.

Peskov elaborated on the state of Russian-American relations, stating, “Efforts from both sides are necessary, but the Americans are not ready for this matter at present.” He further noted that Moscow will reciprocate any genuine willingness from the Americans to revive relations. “We have never exaggerated Washington’s ability and capacity to solve a complex issue like the Ukraine crisis,” Peskov commented.

In a separate remark, Peskov highlighted the substantial and multifaceted nature of Russia-China relations, expressing Moscow’s hope for their continued development over many years. He concluded by emphasizing the necessity of achieving the objectives of the special military operation, stating that it is important for Moscow to secure its interests and fulfill the goals set at the commencement of the operation.
