Lebanese President Calls for Hezbollah Disarmament Amidst Israeli Occupation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, amidst the ongoing Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory under the pretext of confronting Hezbollah, which has resulted in hundreds of deaths and thousands of displaced Lebanese, Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun on Monday urged Hezbollah to hand over its weapons and pursue dialogue with the Israeli regime. These proposed discussions are reportedly being structured by the United States and the occupying regime.
In an interview with CNN, the Lebanese President claimed, “I have no choice but to negotiate and I am trying to leverage the personal inclination of the U.S. President to end the conflicts. Lebanon is administered according to its constitution, but I am doing this in close consultation with the Prime Minister and the Speaker of Parliament.”
General Joseph Aoun, seemingly disregarding the aggressive and occupying nature of the Israeli regime, asserted, “We are united in our desire to end the war. The proposals include a non-aggression pact, a security agreement, or something else. Regarding a peace agreement, we are part of the Arab Peace Initiative and are committed to it! Hezbollah members are Lebanese and have the right to live with dignity, but under the government’s protection! If they do not agree to hand over their weapons or negotiate with the government, the people will turn away from them.” He further stated, “I tell Israel that a military solution will never guarantee the security of northern Israel (occupied Palestinian territories).”
This assertion from the Lebanese general comes at a time when Hezbollah enjoys significant popular support for its robust defense of the Lebanese people against the aggressions of the Zionist occupiers. Hezbollah has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to maintaining its resistance weapons against the occupying aggressors.
