Turkey‘s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong response to remarks made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, refuting his accusations against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The ministry stated that Netanyahu’s baseless, provocative, and unrealistic allegations are an attempt by him and his associates to mislead international public opinion.

In its statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared, “The lies that the genocide-specialist Netanyahu resorts to in order to cover up the truth cannot hide his responsibility for the grave crimes he has committed.”

Ankara reiterated its commitment to unequivocally stating the facts about Netanyahu and his collaborators. The ministry affirmed that it will vigorously pursue accountability for those who have disregarded international law and human values through international judicial bodies.

The exchange follows a sharp and agitated reaction from Netanyahu to President Erdoğan’s recent assertion that the “occupying regime” of Israel is a threat to humanity, and that its military operations in Syria and Lebanon now pose a danger to Turkey. Netanyahu claimed that Erdoğan, who he accused of suppressing his own people, imprisoning political opponents, and supporting Hamas, was in no position to lecture Israel on ethics.

The Israeli Prime Minister further asserted that Israel would continue its actions against Iran and its allies in the region, viewing them as a threat to Western Asia and the world.

Earlier, President Erdoğan had stated that Israel had gone too far and become a source of threat to the entire world. He noted that Israeli attacks on Syria and Lebanon had escalated to a point where they also threatened Turkey. Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey would not ignore Israeli targeting of Syria and Lebanon, as these two countries are crucial for Turkey’s national security. He also stated that Turkey would not allow Israel to achieve its purported goals with fictitious claims of a “promised land,” labeling Israel as an obstacle to peace and stability in the region. Erdoğan pointed to Israel’s destructive actions in the Mediterranean, warning against any adventurism there, and cautioned that if Israel’s “savagery” is not halted, the consequences would be borne by the entire world.
