Trump’s VP Claims Iran Deal Will Reopen Strait of Hormuz, Citing Falling Oil Prices

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance asserted that a forthcoming agreement with Iran will immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a development he claims is already leading to a decrease in global oil prices.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance reiterated claims regarding an agreement between the United States and Iran, stating that the text of the understanding is expected to be published by Friday. Vance, appearing to seek a strategic victory following perceived military setbacks against Tehran, declared that the primary outcome of this agreement is the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which he attributes to the recent decline in oil prices. He suggested the understanding provides Iran with certain benefits, facilitating its reintegration into the global economy. Vance indicated that Pakistan had requested a temporary delay in the full publication of the agreement’s text, but the administration aims to release it before Friday to inform the American public.

Vance further alleged that a beneficial agreement for the American people has been reached, countering what he described as distortions or misinformation. He pointed to the observed resumption of oil and gas flow through the Strait of Hormuz as evidence of the agreement’s impact, noting the subsequent drop in oil prices. While omitting any reference to Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, Vance unilaterally claimed that economic advantages for Iran are contingent upon Tehran’s compliance with U.S. demands regarding nuclear weapons. He asserted that the agreement guarantees Iran will not pursue nuclear weapons and ensures the continued openness of the Strait of Hormuz.

This statement comes despite repeated assertions from Iran that its nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes, consistent with its definitive rights under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), a position Tehran considers a red line.
