Lebanese President Welcomes Aid to End War, Stresses State Sovereignty

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that Lebanon welcomes any assistance aimed at ending the current conflict but draws a clear distinction between aid and interference in internal affairs, emphasizing the nation’s independence and the absence of external negotiation on its behalf.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has declared that Lebanon is open to receiving any form of assistance that contributes to ending the ongoing conflict. In a meeting with a delegation of Lebanese Catholics, President Aoun clarified that while welcoming aid, his government maintains a firm stance against any form of intervention in its domestic affairs, underscoring Lebanon’s status as an independent nation where no entity negotiates on its behalf.

President Aoun reiterated that the Lebanese government supports all citizens and stressed that there is no viable alternative to a unified and robust government capable of representing the entire Lebanese populace.

He acknowledged the existence of political competition, deeming it legitimate, but cautioned against actions that obstruct the government’s progress, stating that such impediments are unacceptable. The President emphasized that internal divisions among Lebanese citizens are particularly untenable given the nation’s current challenging circumstances.

Furthermore, President Aoun outlined that the most effective approach to combating corruption lies in the implementation of e-government initiatives and the establishment of an efficient and independent judiciary.
