Trump Criticizes UK’s Energy Policy Post-Starmer Resignation

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly commented on the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, criticizing the UK’s reliance on wind energy over its North Sea oil reserves.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, has reacted to the recent resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Trump stated that he had previously expressed concerns to Starmer about the United Kingdom’s decision to prioritize wind energy over its substantial oil reserves in the North Sea.

He added that Britain imports a significant portion of its energy from Norway, which he noted utilizes its North Sea oil. Trump highlighted that the UK, conversely, has not exploited its own oil resources in the region due to environmental considerations.

Trump also referenced tensions in his relationship with Starmer concerning NATO, commenting that the Prime Minister’s conduct in this regard was not favorable towards the United States.

A report by CNN titled “Where Keir Starmer Went Wrong” indicated that despite securing a decisive victory in the 2024 UK general election, Starmer’s popularity began to decline almost immediately after taking office. He faced criticism from the right for his perceived inability to curb illegal immigration, while left-wing factions attacked him over unpopular economic policies. Furthermore, many across the political spectrum believed Starmer lacked charisma and a clear political vision. Consequently, his position had been gradually weakening for months prior to his resignation.
