US Senate Votes to Limit President Trump’s War Powers Against Iran

The United States Senate has passed a resolution aiming to curtail President Donald Trump’s authority to engage in military operations against Iran without prior congressional approval, reinforcing Congress’s role in authorizing war.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United States Senate has approved legislation that restricts President Donald Trump’s authority to conduct any military operations against Iran unless he first obtains authorization from Congress. This measure, developed within the framework of the War Powers Act, emphasizes Congress’s pivotal role in decisions regarding U.S. entry into military conflicts.

If finalized, this resolution would obligate the U.S. administration to secure congressional consent before executing any new military actions against Iran. However, President Trump retains the possibility of vetoing the measure.

Previously, in an unprecedented move, the U.S. House of Representatives had voted in favor of a resolution put forth by Democrats to limit President Trump’s war powers against Iran.
