US Senate Rebuke to Trump Over Iran Conflict Intensifies Congressional Opposition

The U.S. Senate has passed a resolution compelling the administration to withdraw American forces from the conflict with Iran, marking an unprecedented reprimand for President Donald Trump and signaling insufficient congressional support for the ongoing war.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, CNN reports that the passage of a resolution in the U.S. Senate aimed at obligating the administration to withdraw American forces from the war with Iran is considered an unprecedented rebuke for Donald Trump. It indicates that the continuation of this war does not have adequate support in Congress.

According to this report, the senators’ vote signifies increasing opposition to the White House’s belligerent policies and sends a clear message to the Trump administration that any continuation of military engagement with Iran without the necessary political and legal backing from Congress will face serious challenges.

The U.S. Senate hours earlier passed a bill stipulating that U.S. President Donald Trump does not have the right to conduct any military operations against Iran unless he obtains authorization from Congress beforehand.

The War Powers Resolution was passed by the U.S. Senate with 50 votes in favor and 48 votes against.

This bill was drafted within the framework of the “War Powers Act” and emphasizes Congress’s role in deciding on U.S. entry into military conflicts.

Previously, the U.S. House of Representatives had, in an unprecedented move, voted in favor of Democrats’ resolution to limit Trump’s war powers against Iran.
