Lebanon, Israel Report Significant Progress in US-Mediated Talks

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Lebanese official has claimed significant progress in the ongoing negotiations between Lebanon and Israel in Washington. Speaking to Al Jazeera, the official stated that an agreement has been reached on two model occupied areas from which Israeli forces will withdraw, a process expected to occur in a phased manner as a prelude to a complete Israeli withdrawal.
The Lebanese source further emphasized that a framework for joint cooperation between Lebanon and Israel has been agreed upon and is slated for signing today, following the approval of all parties to the terms of a ‘declaration of goodwill.’ Axios also reported, citing an Israeli official, that the framework agreement with Lebanon has been secured.
Al Jazeera further indicated that the agreement between Lebanon and Israel will be signed in the presence of the U.S. Secretary of State. Channel 13 of Israel reported that the agreement, expected to be signed soon, will include mutual recognition of sovereignty over each other’s territories, with Israel agreeing to withdraw from certain areas and hand them over to the Lebanese army.
