European Solidarity Ship Navigates Towards Gaza to Break Blockade

The ‘Hanzalah 2’ ship, part of the European Solidarity Initiative, is en route to the Gaza Strip from Scandinavia, aiming to breach the ongoing blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians. This voyage is a component of a broader international maritime effort.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the vessel ‘Hanzalah 2,’ which commenced its journey from Sweden under the ‘European Solidarity Initiative,’ continues its maritime passage via several Scandinavian ports. The objective is to reach the Gaza Strip, break the blockade of the region, and deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

The ship set sail from the southern Swedish city of Malmö on May 14th as part of the ‘Flotilla to Gaza’ project. Civil society groups from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark are steering this initiative. ‘Hanzalah 2’ is slated to join international maritime movements heading to the Gaza Strip in September.

Janne Skaniella, a representative of the ‘Flotilla to Gaza’ project in Sweden, stated in a press release that the ship concluded its Swedish port calls on June 15th and is now proceeding towards the coasts of Norway and Denmark.

She added that the vessel will remain in a southern Danish port until the end of July before resuming its voyage towards the Mediterranean Sea. In September, it is expected to join the ‘Global StandWithGaza Fleet’ en route to Gaza.

Skaniella explained that ‘Hanzalah 2’ will be a part of the ‘Freedom Flotilla Coalition,’ an alliance that has been organizing solidarity maritime campaigns for years to support Palestinians and end the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing for nearly two decades.

The project representative emphasized that the primary goal of this initiative is to end the Gaza blockade. The journey to several Scandinavian ports is also intended to keep global public attention focused on the situation within the Gaza Strip.

She also expressed the organizers’ hope that their respective governments will adopt practical measures and exert effective pressure to halt what she described as the “genocide by the Zionist regime in Gaza.”

Skaniella further stated that the ‘Hanzalah 2’ carries a message of solidarity and hope for the Palestinian people, calling for an end to double standards concerning the Palestinian issue.

According to information published on the ‘Flotilla to Gaza’ initiative’s platform, this project has been active since 2009 with the aim of showing solidarity with the residents of the Gaza Strip and is part of the ‘Freedom Flotilla Coalition,’ which organizes civil maritime campaigns in support of Palestinians.
