Explosion and Gunfire Erupt Near Karachi Security Hub

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, reports have emerged of an explosion and gunfire in Karachi, Pakistan’s commercial capital. Sources familiar with the matter told Al Jazeera that the incident occurred on Saturday near an area leading to the offices of a paramilitary force known as the ‘Rangers’. Pakistani media outlets indicated that the affected road is also situated near several universities and the Pakistan Meteorological Department. The Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported that specialized units, including the rapid response force and police commandos, have been dispatched to the site. The newspaper further stated that the area has been cordoned off by police and ‘Rangers’ paramilitary personnel. Sources confirmed to Al Jazeera that clashes are ongoing.
