Gaza Faces Acute Drinking Water Shortage as Summer Begins Amid Infrastructure Collapse

The Gaza Strip is grappling with a severe drinking water crisis as the summer heat intensifies, with the local human rights center warning of a near-total collapse of the water supply system and accusing Israel of using thirst as a weapon against civilians.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Gaza Strip’s water supply system is on the verge of collapse, with a leading human rights organization in the enclave issuing a dire warning that Israel is employing thirst as a weapon against the civilian population. The center highlighted that ongoing Israeli attacks have decimated the region’s infrastructure, while essential fuel and equipment for repairing wastewater and water supply facilities are being blocked from entering Gaza.

With the onset of summer, over two million Palestinians are facing catastrophic conditions. Temperatures are soaring above forty degrees Celsius within shelters and displacement camps, leaving hundreds of thousands of families with minimal access to even basic drinking water. This humanitarian crisis is directly attributed to Israeli policies targeting Gaza’s vital infrastructure, with over 80 percent of the water and sewage networks reportedly impacted.
