U.S. Officials Claim Positive Progress in Doha Talks with Iran; Vance Offers Contradictory Outlook

Washington claims that special envoys for the U.S. President have engaged in productive discussions with regional leaders in Doha regarding Iran, while a conflicting statement from the U.S. Vice President suggests negotiations are still in their nascent stages.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Bloomberg has reported, citing a U.S. official, that Steve Vitcoff, the U.S. President’s Special Envoy, and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, held positive discussions with regional leaders in Doha as part of ongoing negotiations with Iran.

The source indicated that technical contacts between the United States and Iran persist within the framework of efforts to reach understandings on ceasing hostilities.

In related developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar announced that Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, met with Vitcoff and Kushner. Their discussions focused on the ongoing negotiations within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States concerning the cessation of hostilities.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs further stated that both sides also reviewed developments in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, and exchanged views on strategies to support stability in the region.

This claim from the American news agency emerges amidst contradictory statements from U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, who asserted that negotiations with Iran are still in their early phases. He cautioned that the U.S. administration possesses numerous leverage tools that have not yet been employed to ensure outcomes favorable to Washington.
