Algerians Vote in National Assembly Elections

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Algerian citizens are participating in elections today to choose members of the National Assembly for a new parliamentary term. Over 24 million Algerians are eligible to cast their ballots in this significant electoral event.
The Algerian News Agency has described these elections as a decisive moment for the construction of state institutions and the advancement of democratic practices in the nation. The process is being conducted as part of legal and organizational reforms aimed at refining the electoral procedure and ensuring its integrity.
A total of 793 electoral lists are competing for 407 seats in the country’s National Assembly, serving a five-year parliamentary term. The candidate pool comprises 9,854 individuals vying for these positions. Of the competing lists, 613 are backed by 32 political parties, while 125 are independent.
In overseas constituencies, 54 lists with 432 candidates are in contention. This includes 47 lists supported by 16 political parties, one list presented under a party coalition, and six independent lists.
Voting is scheduled from 8 AM to 7 PM. The electoral system employs a proportional representation method with an open list and preferential voting.
The number of eligible voters, following the latest exceptional revision of electoral rolls, stands at 24,727,041. This figure breaks down into 23,872,756 voters within the country and 854,285 voters abroad.
