Najaf Prepares for Historic Farewell as Nation Readies for Supreme Leader’s Remains

The city of Najaf is steeped in an atmosphere of mourning as preparations are finalized for the arrival and procession of the Supreme Leader’s remains, with extensive arrangements made for official receptions and public farewell ceremonies.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the city of Najaf has taken on a somber, mournful tone in recent hours. Routes leading to the airport, the sacred shrine of Amir al-Mu’minin (AS), and the city’s main thoroughfares have been prepared for استقبال (reception) and تشییع (funeral procession) ceremonies. Service, security, and relief forces are on high alert.

As per the announced schedule, the revered remains are expected to arrive in Iraq via Najaf International Airport tonight. A formal reception ceremony will be attended by a group of high-ranking Iraqi government officials, religious figures, and prominent political and social personalities of the country. Following the reception, a farewell and visitation ceremony will be held tomorrow morning adjacent to the holy shrine of Hazrat Amir al-Mu’minin (AS).

Concurrently, the Najaf Governorate and other Iraqi institutions have mobilized all available resources to host pilgrims and mourners by forming special committees. Several Iraqi provinces have also declared official holidays to facilitate public participation in these ceremonies.

Tomorrow morning, a grand funeral procession is scheduled to commence in Najaf, involving a massive turnout of Iraqi citizens and pilgrims. The sacred remains will then be transferred to Karbala for continuation of the funeral and farewell rites. This event is anticipated to draw a large congregation of devoted followers of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) from Iraq and other nations.
