UK Prime Minister Consults with Netherlands and Norway on Maritime Security and Ukraine Support

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has engaged in high-level consultations with his counterparts in the Netherlands and Norway, addressing critical issues of maritime security and international support for Ukraine.
In a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Starmer discussed a new maritime partnership between the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The British Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the Netherlands’ support of a multinational mission aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Both leaders underscored the importance of innovative solutions for financing major military projects, acknowledging the rise in defense spending.
Furthermore, Starmer conferred with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. Their discussions reaffirmed continued support for Ukraine and covered developments in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the necessity of persistent diplomatic efforts to achieve a sustainable ceasefire. During this meeting, the British Prime Minister provided an update on the status of the UK’s military assets and equipment in the region.
Both Starmer and Støre also deliberated on the joint financing of substantial military projects.
