Six Thousand Seafarers Remain Stranded in Persian Gulf Waters

Approximately six thousand seafarers are currently stranded in the waters of the Persian Gulf, according to the International Maritime Organization. This situation persists despite a prior understanding between Iran and the United States that aimed to facilitate maritime passage.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the International Maritime Organization has reported that six thousand seafarers remain stranded in the Persian Gulf. This development follows a period where numerous large vessels and oil tankers were held up in the Strait of Hormuz, with an estimated 20,000 seafarers caught on the other side.

Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, Iran reopened the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping under its own administrative regulations. However, repeated obstructionism by the United States regarding ceasefire negotiations has hindered the progress of this understanding.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced today that the understanding with Iran has concluded, asserting that negotiations with the Iranians were a waste of time.
