CIA Analysts Express Growing Concerns Over Political Pressure Under Trump’s Return

An internal CIA survey reveals escalating worries among analysts about maintaining professional independence amid concerns of political influence on intelligence assessments following Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, an internal survey conducted by the CIA has indicated a growing apprehension among the organization’s analysts regarding the future autonomy of their work. The survey suggests that since U.S. President Donald Trump returned to the White House, there has been a notable increase in the number of analysts who believe political pressure is impacting intelligence evaluations.

This sentiment is reportedly on the rise, with analysts feeling pressured to reach conclusions that align with the desires of political officials, rather than adhering strictly to established facts. Former CIA officer, Clay Binkley, emphasized that recent developments raise questions about the current U.S. administration’s commitment to the principle of impartiality.

The report cites Venezuela as an example, referencing the U.S. administration’s efforts to attribute blame to the country in an attempt to justify the expulsion of Venezuelan migrants. Trump has repeatedly accused intelligence agencies of providing assessments that do not support his positions and has urged officials to find evidence backing his claims of fraud in the 2020 election.

Atlantic, quoting former U.S. intelligence official Steven Kash, reported that Trump has treated the intelligence community like a political propaganda machine. While U.S. intelligence services have historically operated in line with national interests and not always adhered to strict impartiality, this trend has reportedly intensified during the Trump era.
