Jordanian and Qatari Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional De-escalation and Ceasefire Implementation

Amman and Doha’s top diplomats held a phone call to review strategies for restoring regional calm and ending escalating tensions, emphasizing the importance of upholding the June 2026 ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, in a significant diplomatic exchange, Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, spoke with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. The conversation focused on pathways to restore regional tranquility and definitively end escalating tensions.

Both ministers underscored the critical importance of implementing the ceasefire agreement that was established on June 15, 2026, between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. They jointly issued a warning regarding the grave consequences of further regional conflict escalation and stressed the imperative of returning to the negotiating table, asserting dialogue as the sole viable solution for crisis resolution.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the ongoing endeavors by the Qatari government in guaranteeing the execution of agreements, restoring peace, and fostering stability within the region. The foreign ministers also affirmed their mutual solidarity in confronting any threats directed at their own security and that of the member states of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf.

Additionally, the two leaders addressed a number of bilateral matters, reflecting a shared commitment and mutual desire to bolster the strategic and fraternal relations between Amman and Doha.
