US Official Claims IRGC Fired Missile at Commercial Vessel in Strait of Hormuz; IRGC Cites Warning Shot

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a US official, speaking to the Axios news website and cited by Al Jazeera, claimed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired a missile towards a commercial ship in the Strait of Hormuz. The official further alleged that this action resulted in damage to the vessel.
These allegations come as the IRGC announced minutes earlier, via a statement, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The statement detailed that a vessel, which had endangered maritime security by disabling its systems, was subjected to a warning shot and halted.
The IRGC further stated that in response to the insecurity caused by the illegal intervention of foreigners, the Strait of Hormuz would be closed until further notice and until U.S. interventions in the region cease, preventing any vessel from transiting. Additionally, the IRGC warned that if the aggressor enemy commits any misstep or new aggression under the pretext of this incident, for which they are responsible, they will be met with a severe response, and new enemy bases in the region will be targeted.
The consequences of such interventions will be borne by the American-Zionist enemy and countries that have provided their territory for these threats to be launched from enemy bases.
