Pakistan Vows Support for Regional Peace Amid US-Iran Tensions

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep concern over recent escalating regional tensions, pledging full support for dialogue and diplomacy to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, following recent U.S. provocations involving incursions into Iranian territory, Pakistan‘s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Sunday expressing deep concern over recent events that are escalating regional tensions.

The statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared, “We are committed to providing full support for the achievement of lasting peace and stability in the region through dialogue and diplomacy. Islamabad reaffirms its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all brotherly nations in the region.”

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs added, “We call on the parties (Iran and the United States) to exercise restraint, take steps to de-escalate tensions, and abide by their commitments under the memorandum of understanding.”

Recent developments in Iran-U.S. relations have once again demonstrated that the case of the two countries’ interactions remains at a sensitive and complex juncture. The recent U.S. attacks on locations within Iranian territory have also initiated a new phase of military and political tensions between the two nations. This point is characterized by simultaneous signs of continued diplomatic engagement, while political and security movements add to the layers of ambiguity.

These circumstances have arisen as recent statements by Donald Trump regarding interactions with Iran have raised new questions about Washington’s true strategy, rather than offering a clear picture of the future. In recent days, Trump has alluded to the end of a ceasefire on one hand, while speaking of continuing negotiations on the other. These positions are seen as indicative of a dual approach in U.S. policy.

This duality has been observed previously concerning Iran, with Washington consistently attempting to maintain channels of dialogue while simultaneously employing tools of political, economic, and security pressure to enhance its bargaining power.
