US Lawmakers Urge Trump Against Deceptive War Declarations, Cite Constitutional Concerns

Democratic lawmakers are confronting President Donald Trump, accusing him of circumventing constitutional law and misrepresenting the continuation of military conflict, specifically urging him to cease misleading statements regarding the resumption of war operations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Democratic members of the U.S. Congress have directly challenged President Donald Trump, demanding that he adhere to legal procedures and refrain from making false claims about ongoing military actions. Mike Levin, a Democratic Representative from California, stated that President Trump had informed Congress of a resumption of hostilities with Iran. Levin highlighted that Trump’s announcement of renewed conflict, while simultaneously asserting sole authority over war decisions, directly contradicts the U.S. Constitution.

“No president has the right to claim absolute and exclusive authority over war,” Levin asserted. He further called for an end to partisan divisions, urging Republicans to join Democrats in opposing the “idea of one individual unilaterally deciding on war and peace.”

Similarly, Teresa Leger Fernández, another Democratic Representative from New Mexico, emphasized that Trump cannot simply end a conflict “on paper” to evade legal constraints, only to restart it at his discretion. “Enough is enough; the lies and endless wars must stop,” Fernández declared. She pointed out that Trump had previously misrepresented the end of a conflict and is now informing Congress of a renewed war status, requesting an additional 60-day period to continue military operations without congressional approval.
