Turkey’s Bahceli Affirms Iran’s Right to Self-Defense

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Devlet Bahceli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and a close ally of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has asserted Iran‘s legitimate right to self-defense. Speaking in the Turkish Parliament, Bahceli addressed the recent U.S. military action targeting Iranian territory, stating that undermining a signed agreement before a month has passed and re-attacking Iranian soil has shaken the will for peace.
Bahceli emphasized that “the Iranian side was attacked and its citizens were killed.” He added, “These facts must be seen. Evaluating this event as an independent action separate from the agreement is neither fair nor conscientious, as trust in peace has been damaged.”
Further elaborating on his remarks, Bahceli stated, “No government would accept or consent to being attacked while expecting protection from an agreement it has signed. Iran has the right to protect its security. Concerns can be raised and discussed at the negotiation table, but these security concerns cannot serve as a pretext for creating a larger crisis.”
He also criticized the perceived inconsistency in President Trump’s positions, suggesting that agreements cannot be advanced through personal decisions.
