Iraq Launches Investigation into Alleged Drone Attacks Originating from its Territory

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Iraqi Council of Ministers has announced that Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi, has directed relevant security agencies to investigate allegations by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense. The ministry claimed that drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia were launched from Iraqi territory.

Sabah Al-Numan, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, issued a statement emphasizing Iraq’s unwavering commitment to the principles of good neighborliness, as enshrined in its constitution. He affirmed that Iraq will not permit its territory to be used as a pathway or origin point for any aggression against friendly and brotherly nations.

Al-Numan further stated that the Iraqi government is meticulously examining all available information and evidence. Based on the investigation’s findings, legal actions will be pursued against any individual or entity proven to have played a role in these alleged actions.

He underscored the fraternal and historical nature of Iraq-Saudi Arabia relations, built on mutual respect, shared interests, and the principles of good neighborliness. Baghdad, he stressed, will not allow any efforts to undermine these ties.

Al-Numan also reiterated the Iraqi government’s firm resolve to protect its own security and sovereignty, as well as to maintain the security and stability of Arab and regional countries.

These statements from Iraqi officials follow a declaration by the Saudi Ministry of Defense, which alleged that oil facilities in the eastern regions and Riyadh were targeted by drones that had taken flight from Iraqi territory.
