Iraqi PM condemns attacks on Hashed al-Shaabi, asserts right to self-defense

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani has strongly condemned attacks against Hashed al-Shaabi positions, characterizing them as a clear violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and a direct transgression of international law and the United Nations Charter. Al-Sudani stated that the timing of these attacks raises significant questions, particularly as they coincided with the Iraqi government’s actions and the formation of official committees to investigate claims regarding drone flights originating from Iraqi territory.

Al-Sudani highlighted this as evidence of the Iraqi government’s commitment to addressing these issues through legal mechanisms and official institutions, steering clear of escalating military tensions. He further asserted that Iraq reserves all its legitimate rights under international law, especially Article 51 of the UN Charter, pertaining to the defense of its security, sovereignty, and the well-being of its people. The Prime Minister underscored that any aggression against Iraq is unacceptable and cannot be met with silence.
