Iraqi Leader Calls for Regional De-escalation, Emphasizes Dialogue

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, emphasized on Thursday that his country strives to be a bridge for communication between nations, not a field for settling scores. During a meeting at his Baghdad office with Xiang Bo, the new Chinese Ambassador to Iraq, al-Hakim discussed bilateral relations and the latest regional developments impacting peace and stability globally. He reiterated his support for the Iraqi government’s reform agenda and anti-corruption efforts. Al-Hakim highlighted Iraq’s engagement with its regional and international environment, stating that Iraq aims to serve as a conduit for connection and proximity between countries, rather than an arena for disputes. He also noted the significant importance of China to Iraq due to its substantial economic, industrial, and technological capabilities. The leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement concluded by calling for a reduction in regional tensions, urging major powers to play a responsible role in restoring stability, and advocating for the resolution of challenges and disagreements through dialogue and mutual agreements.
