Hamas Negotiator: Resistance Disarmament Contingent on Israeli Gaza Withdrawal

A Hamas negotiator has stated that any disarmament of the Palestinian resistance is intrinsically linked to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the region’s reconstruction.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ghazi Hamad, a member of the Hamas negotiation delegation, told Al Jazeera that recent Palestinian group discussions in Sharm El Sheikh were arduous and complex, with the Palestinian delegation striving to achieve the optimal formula.

Hamad emphasized that Hamas remains committed to its national objectives, including safeguarding the rights of the Palestinian people.

Regarding the issue of weapons, Hamad stated that it is inseparable from other matters, such as the withdrawal of the Zionist regime from the Gaza Strip and the reconstruction process in the area, and must be examined within a broader framework.

The Hamas negotiation delegation member also said that the Zionist regime would not have a role in the disarmament process, and the responsibility for its implementation would fall to the “National Committee.”

He further stated, “We will not take any action regarding disarmament before Israel withdraws from the Gaza Strip, and if the occupying forces do not fulfill their commitments within the framework of the agreement, we will not take any action either.”

Hamad expressed gratitude to Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for their efforts in reaching this agreement.
