UN: 22 Million in Yemen Require Humanitarian Aid Amidst Crisis

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a UN-affiliated fund in Yemen has announced that 22 million people require humanitarian aid due to the persistent siege and the intensification of the humanitarian crisis. The report, citing Al Mayadeen, highlights that a severe shortage of financial resources is critically endangering the continued provision of vital services in Yemen, which continues to face one of the world’s most significant humanitarian crises.

The crisis is compounded by increasing food insecurity, reduced humanitarian aid budgets, and the deterioration of health services, exacerbating the difficulties faced by vulnerable segments of the population. The UN fund has urged the international community to bolster humanitarian support and financial resources to ensure the sustained delivery of essential services. The fund warned that any escalation in conflicts could lead to increased challenges for civilians and undermine efforts to address their growing needs.

Notably, in July, an Iranian passenger plane successfully breached Yemen’s air blockade, landing at Sana’a International Airport. The aircraft transported over 200 Yemeni citizens, including patients and stranded travelers, back to Yemen. This flight occurred after years of air blockade imposed by the Saudi-led coalition forces since August 9, 2016.
