US Fears Prolonged Conflict with Iran, Chinese Outlet Reports

The United States harbors deep-seated fears of a prolonged conflict with Iran, stemming from structural contradictions in its strategic approach, according to Chinese state media outlet Global Times. Washington is reportedly apprehensive of the costs and dangers associated with an extended military engagement.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Chinese publication Global Times, citing a director from a research center at Lanzhou University, has reported that U.S. hesitation regarding Iran is rooted in structural contradictions. Washington acknowledges its military capabilities but concurrently dreads the risks and costs of being drawn into a protracted conflict with Iran. This situation exacerbates the gap between military capabilities, strategic objectives, and actual outcomes.

The report indicates that the approach of Donald Trump, characterized by maximum pressure, along with pressure from the Zionist regime, has fueled confusion and doubt in U.S. foreign policy. Consequently, even the Pentagon reportedly lacks a clear understanding of the true objectives and intentions behind this policy. Western countries, according to the report, have underestimated the cohesion of the Iranian people and their capacity for resistance, while conversely exaggerating the impact of foreign military intervention.
