Somalia Vows to Block Israeli Influence in Somaliland

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Somalia‘s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has declared that the federal government of Somalia will employ its power and discretion to impede the growth of the Israeli regime’s influence in Somaliland. Mogadishu maintains a strong stance on Somalia’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, and is opposed to the relocation of Middle Eastern conflicts to the Horn of Africa.

During an address to the nation’s parliament, President Mohamud specified that the government is utilizing all available political instruments, international cooperation channels, and national strategies to safeguard Somalia’s sovereignty. He stressed that the country’s security and stability will not be compromised.

It is pertinent to note that the Israeli regime officially recognized the self-proclaimed sovereignty of Somaliland in December 2025, a move that was met with strong disapproval from the Somali government. This recognition by Israel is viewed as an attempt to enhance its strategic positioning and influence near the Bab el-Mandeb strait, particularly in light of ongoing tensions in the Red Sea.
