Hezbollah Deputy Chief: We Continue on Imam Hussein’s Path with Weapons in Hand
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Arbaeen ceremony in the city of Baalbek, Lebanon, commenced with a speech by Sheikh Naim Qassem, Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah. The event honors the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), his family, and his companions in Karbala.
Addressing the attendees, Sheikh Qassem began with salutations to Aba Abdillah, the son of the Messenger of God, son of the Commander of the Faithful, and son of Fatima Zahra (peace be upon them). He acknowledged the gathering to commemorate Arbaeen and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his family, and companions. Qassem highlighted Ashura as a symbol of dignified life, quoting Imam Hussein: “I do not see death but as martyrdom, and life with oppressors but as misery.” He asserted that the foundation of Ashura rests on defending truth and fulfilling religious duty, even if it leads to supreme sacrifice.
Sheikh Qassem further elaborated that the spirit of sacrifice did not cease with the events of Karbala, as the captive caravan became a true embodiment of Imam Hussein’s path, transforming it into a global message. He pointed to the steadfastness of Zainab (peace be upon her) in confronting Yazid, the tyrannical ruler, and challenging his every criminal act. Qassem emphasized that the passage of time has proven the continuity of this struggle, asserting that the model manifested in Karbala triumphs in both this world and the hereafter.
He stated that believers are called to gain strength through patience and worship, transforming martyrdom into a true and eternal life. “We do not cry for the past; rather, we turn our tears into a flame that ignites a future filled with pride and honor,” Qassem declared. He explained that the martyrdom of Imam Hussein awakens a passion in the hearts of believers, a fervor fueled by love, devotion, generosity, sacrifice, and unwavering resolve against injustice to establish justice throughout the world.
Qassem concluded by stating that their sorrow is not a sign of weakness, as the path of Hussein is directly linked to Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance). He openly declared, amidst the mourners, that Hezbollah stands with Imam Hussein, neither abandoning him nor leaving the battlefield. “We continue on this path with weapons in hand, crying out: O Hussein, we will never leave you,” Sheikh Qassem affirmed.
