Over 140 Migrants Die Attempting to Reach Ceuta

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the human rights organization Caminando Fronteras has reported that a minimum of 141 migrants perished while attempting to reach the Spanish territory of Ceuta during a mass crossing into the autonomous city. The organization stated that the death toll reached 141 individuals from July 30 to August 4, with bodies discovered in Ceuta and Morocco.

Spanish authorities indicated that approximately 72,000 irregular migrants managed to enter Ceuta by sea and land by the end of July, circumventing the breakwater separating the city from Morocco. In response, Spanish officials deployed military personnel to assist in maintaining security in the area.

The Spanish government reported that at least 75 individuals lost their lives attempting to reach Ceuta, while Rabat confirmed 11 deaths. It is estimated that 70,000 migrants have returned to Morocco to date.
