Yemen’s Sanaa Warns Saudi Arabia Against Circumventing Maritime Blockade

Sanaa has cautioned Saudi Arabia against attempts to bypass the ongoing maritime blockade, emphasizing that the shortest and safest route to Saudi maritime security lies in addressing the root causes of the political and humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, in conjunction with Yemen‘s continuing retaliatory measures against Saudi Arabia under the banner of ‘blockade for blockade and escalation for escalation,’ the government in Sanaa has issued a stern warning to Riyadh regarding their persistent efforts to circumvent maritime sanctions. This warning comes as reported by Al-Masirah news agency, citing data released by Mehr News Agency.

Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtour, a member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, stated that the most direct and secure path for Saudi maritime security begins with addressing the fundamental political and humanitarian crisis that has plagued Yemen for the past 12 years, rather than attempting to sidestep its consequences. He stressed that the recent operations declared by the Yemeni armed forces against Saudi targets, within the framework of the imposed blockade, signify a shift in the naval confrontation equation.

Bin Habtour indicated that the targeting of a Saudi vessel north of Yanbu by Yemeni armed forces confirms that relying on rerouting ships or circumventing the directives issued by Yemeni leadership is no longer a viable strategy. He further noted that in light of the current military equations, there are no longer any safe escape routes for the Saudis. The message is unequivocal: the blockade equation cannot be overcome by attempts to alter maritime shipping routes or seek alternative geographical passages.

The official from the Sanaa government elaborated that the military and security equations are being implemented by the Yemeni armed forces through extensive preparation and careful observation of ground realities, not through calculations aimed at circumventing them. Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtour concluded by asserting that Saudi Arabia must recognize that its current predicament, shaped by Yemen’s imposed equations, is a direct result of its inhumane actions against Yemen, including its aggressive acts, unjust blockade, and criminal offenses.
