Record Exodus from Occupied Territories Sparks Israeli Leadership Concerns
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli Channel 12 Television has reported a significant and unprecedented increase in the number of Zionists departing the occupied territories in recent years. The report indicates that this exodus is fueling concerns among Israeli officials and experts regarding the depletion of human capital, the economy, and social cohesion.
A new study by researchers at Tel Aviv University, utilizing data from the Central Bureau of Statistics of the occupation regime, reveals that between 2023 and 2025, a total of 268,930 individuals left the occupied territories for at least three consecutive months. The number of individuals departing was approximately 86,500 in 2023, around 91,500 in 2024, and over 90,900 in 2025. This figure represents a substantial increase compared to the annual average of roughly 60,000 people in the preceding decade.
Experts featured in the Channel 12 report have warned that the resilience and social solidarity of Zionists are diminishing, with the figures on leaving the occupied territories showing a worrying surge. They emphasized that the continuation of this trend, particularly the emigration of doctors, engineers, academics, technology specialists, and high-income earners, could severely impact the economy, healthcare system, and security capabilities of the occupation regime. Researchers at Tel Aviv University have also cautioned that exceeding a certain threshold of emigration could initiate an irreversible trend.
The report identified the policies of Benjamin Netanyahu as a contributing factor to the escalating despair, distrust, and a sense of a lack of future. One analyst from Channel 12 stated, “Netanyahu’s legacy is forcing people to flee the occupied territories and driving them out; this is his greatest failure and his greatest sin throughout his political career.”
Previously, Channel 12, citing a report from the Taub Center, had indicated that the migration balance for 2024 turned negative, with departures exceeding arrivals by 26,000 people. A negative balance of approximately 37,000 people was also projected for 2025. Concurrently, the population growth rate fell below one percent for the first time since the establishment of the occupation regime.
