Greenland Issues Stern Warning Over Unlicensed US Oil Drilling Preparations

Greenland’s government has issued a strong warning against an American oil company linked to Donald Trump, stating that preparations for exploratory drilling are underway without the necessary local permits. Equipment has reportedly been brought ashore as the company aims to tap potentially vast oil reserves.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a U.S. oil company with ties to Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to drill wells in Greenland, despite lacking authorization from local authorities. This comes as some necessary equipment for drilling preparations has been brought ashore on Greenland’s east coast in recent days.

The government of Greenland has responded by issuing a serious warning, emphasizing that no permits have been granted for such activities. In a statement, officials declared, “All future logistical matters must be recommended and approved by the mineral resources authority before implementation.”

Executives from Greenland Energy, a Texas-based firm established last year, claim that approximately $1 trillion worth of crude oil may lie beneath the Jameson Land region. The company has announced its intention to invest $60 million in drilling two wells to explore this potential.

As a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark, decisions concerning Greenland’s natural resources fall under the purview of its locally elected leaders. These leaders now face a critical decision regarding the drilling operations.

A representative for Greenland Energy stated that a ship carrying 300 containers of the company’s drilling equipment is scheduled to depart from Canada on September 12th. Jeff Landry, the far-right governor of Louisiana who is acting as Trump’s envoy to Greenland, has suggested that Greenland could be extracting oil as early as next year.
