US Troops in South Korea at Risk Due to Iran War, New York Times Reports

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a report by The New York Times, citing an American official and drawing from data published by the Mehr News Agency via Al Jazeera, indicates that the transfer of U.S. defensive equipment to the Middle East has heightened the risk for American forces in South Korea.

The newspaper further reported, quoting several other U.S. officials, that while the war with Iran has led to a concerning depletion of American arms stockpiles, ammunition designated for Asia and Europe has also been moved out of these regions.

According to the report, President Donald Trump decided to engage in the conflict anticipating a swift resolution, despite warnings from General Dan Kinkaid, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, regarding the status of ammunition reserves. The New York Times quoted a Pentagon spokesperson responding to these reports, stating that claims of an arms shortage are inaccurate and that the U.S. possesses all necessary resources for any operation.

Another American official told the newspaper that Russia and China are closely monitoring the U.S. arms stockpiles.
