Palestinian Prisoners Face Dire Conditions in Israeli Prison
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Palestinian Prisoner Affairs Administration has reported that living and humanitarian conditions in Israel’s ‘Ganet’ prison are continuing to deteriorate at a dangerous rate. Prisoners are being deprived of the most basic living essentials amidst ongoing punitive actions and restrictions.
The Israeli prison administration reportedly permits the use of washing machines only once every 12 to 14 days. In numerous instances, undergarments and other clothing items belonging to the prisoners are not being replaced.
The administration further stated that prisoners are subjected to continuous beatings and suppression, while simultaneously being denied medical care and minimal personal items. Overcrowding in cells is severe, with some rooms housing 12 prisoners who only have 10 beds available, forcing two individuals to sleep on the floor. Prison officials also compel prisoners to sleep on their stomachs and collect their mattresses after the morning headcount until the evening tally.
Even basic items such as shavers and nail clippers are insufficient, leading prisoners to share limited available facilities. The Prisoner Affairs Administration has appealed to international and humanitarian bodies, particularly the International Committee of the Red Cross, to intervene immediately to halt these violations and guarantee the minimum rights of the prisoners.
